Misheard Song Lyrics -> Stories -> Alan Parsons Project

Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody. For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.

This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.

Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

Alan Parsons Project's, "Eye in the Sky"
The Misheard Lyrics:
I am the eye in the sky
Making the rules feeling we fall
I can make you mine.
The Real Lyrics:
I am the eye in the sky
Looking at you I can read your mind.
The Story: A Filipino woman started chatting with me and those were what she thought that the lyrics were. The real lyrics were what I was thinking. Haha - Submitted by: Cal Jennings
Alan Parsons Project's, "Eye in the Sky"
The Misheard Lyrics:
I am the maker of booze
Being with you
I can reach the sky
The Real Lyrics:
I am the maker of rules
Dealing with fools
I can read your mind
The Story: When this song was popular, my sister and I (ages 3 and 5) would ride our tricycles around the perimeter of the basement, sitting on the back step of the trikes. We would look like machines and we would be the 'makers of booze', and we would be singing this part of the song. - Submitted by: Troy
Alan Parsons Project's, "Games People Play"
The Misheard Lyrics:
Games people play, you take it on your reelin'.
The Real Lyrics:
Games people play, you take it or you leave it.
The Story: The misheard lyric reminds me of when I went to University of South Florida in 1980 and we were all going on a field trip, and the lyrics I thought I heard- "You take it on your reelin'" -remind me of one of the staff members telling us to "be on your best behavior." ;-D - Submitted by: Isac
Alan Parsons Project's, "Psychobabble"
The Misheard Lyrics:
I don't care its all chocolate barrel wrap to me
The Real Lyrics:
I don't care its all Psychobabble rap to me
The Story: in my favourite box of chocolates there was one that was shaped like (half) a barrel, and it was wrapped in foil, it had a caramel center - Submitted by: Ross Jacobson-Deeley
The Misheard Lyrics:
Eleven Mile Road
The Real Lyrics:
Forevermore
The Story: Haunting, somber, distance lyrics come at the very end of time on the 'Turn Of A Friendly Card' album. During high school, I lived off Eleven Mile Road in Lathrup Village. The first time I heard this, I was driving down Eleven Mile Road on my way home. I nearly caused an accident (strange stuff, indeed). - Submitted by: Mark Raymond
