Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody. For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.

Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

The Story: We were singing karaoke the other day. The lyrics showed, 'I will make you wait for all time', so my friend ad-libbed and sang, 'that it really sucks to be the guy'. Based on what I thought the lyrics to be all these years, I assumed they wrongly substituted 'will' for 'won't'. My friend told us what the lyrics really were. - Submitted by: Anthony Chico

The Real Lyrics:
Is it the streets or me?
The drugs taking over me.
The Story: The above misheard lyrics make absolutely no sense in the context of the song (a girl asking her boyfriend to choose between being a drug dealer or leaving the criminal life to be with her). Yet, those wrong lyrics are still reported as correct on many Internet lyric websites, go figure. - Submitted by: m
