Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody.
For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.
This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.
Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not
by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see
misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and
misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

We love the all the all in you, where lands are green and skies are blue, when all in all we're just like you, we love the all in you
We love the all the all of you, where lands are green and skies are blue, when all in all we're just like you, we love the all of you.
The Story: It sounded like a reference to Indian spiritual beliefs. "The all in you" sounds like a reference to the divine that is believed to be present in all people, and to say "we love the all, the all in you" would be like saying "we love the part of you that is divine, good, and eternal." It would be in keeping with the rest of the song. - Submitted by: Constantine
Lop-di-ollie-ollie-oo
Where lands are green and skies are blue
We're all in armor just like you
Lop-di-ollie-oo
We love the all, the all of you
Our lands are green and skies are blue
When all in all we're just like you
We love the all of you
The Story: Well, I always knew 'lop-di-ollie-ollie-oo' was wrong, but I couldn't think of any words that sounded more correct. As for the part about being in armor, I thought it was a metaphor for everyone being cynical and keeping their guard up. However, I had no funny moment of revelation for two reasons: 1) I found out the real lyrics, by myself, on a computer, and 2) None of my friends listened to my music anyway, so if I sang it, I could have easily bluffed and gotten away with it. - Submitted by: Carolyn
We love the au- the audioooh
We love the all the all of you
The Story: The best I could tell, they were saying "We love the audio" but pronouncing it weird with "ooh" to rhyme with "blue" on the next line. - Submitted by: Carson
