G'day all. I know it's been ages, but I've finally written another parody. And hopefully this is just the tip of the iceberg; I've set myself the task of parodying Green Day's American Idiot album in its entirety, each parody I write relating to my home country in some way. Can I do it? Probably not, but trying will be fun. Hope you like, hope somebody still remembers me around here.
I wanna write an Australian parody
A Green Day album, will it be too much for me?
I must maintain a strong mental energy
If I'm gonna pull this off successfully
Am I being unrealistic
Or just foolishly patriotic
If I commit to this many parodies?
The idea at first seemed inviting
These parodies that I'll be writing
Each one about my country
Well, there's koalas, Steve Irwin or Vegemite
Select a subject about which I might write
Think up some lyrics, keeping all the rhymes tight
Then sing along to make sure the pacing's alright
Am I being unrealistic
Or just foolishly patriotic
If I commit to this many parodies?
For this one about which I'm buzzin'
Just the first in a baker's dozen
Each one about my country

Long as I'm not making a mockery

All I can do is hope it won't embarrass me
