The Lyrics
Heard the latest crazy idea concerning the debt crisis? President Obama is seriously considering authorizing the Federal Reserve to mint a new platinum $1 Trillion coin (with his likeness on the front) to pay the Treasury with, allowing painful budget cuts and unpopular cuts to be averted. This is 100% legal and Obama does not need Congressional approval to do it! The FR controls all denominations of currency and coinage that is gold, silver, and copper- but not platinum. It's a loophole that can be exploited and the Treasury would have to accept that deposit. While that would make Obama look desperate and despotic, it would please a whole bunch of other people like the Middle Class, Lower Middle Class, Poor, and Seniors. So why not just mint 16 of those coins? Because it would come off as exorbitant and sound crazy!!! Coin collectors, however, are ecstatic. This would be the largest amount for a coin since the German Weimar $1 million Westphalia coin (AFAIK) :)
