The Lyrics
Based on Acts 16:16-31, this song recounts the episode of the apostle Paul's stay at a local jail in Philippi, in ancient Macedon. Paul his close friend Silas, and a few others travelling with them were thrown in jail. An earthquake broke the jail locks, theoretically freeing the prisoners, which would have resulted in the jailer's death as penalty for allowing prisoners to escape, As the jailer (unnamed) started to spare Rome the trouble of capital proceedings against his by falling on his sword, Paul interrupted advising him that no one had escaped. Midnight Concertos recounts the jailer's change in attitude towards Paul and his message of salvation. Except for one line near the end of the song, the jailer is the singer of the entire song.
