You would really have to know or hear this song to get the impact of this piece. I remember sitting on the beach at Playa Del Rey here when I was 16, getting my little pale ass sun-burned and listening to this song on a little portable transistor AM radio...It blew my mind...Never realized I would come to associate the sounds within it to such a horrid event...Yes, I realize most of you probably are DKTOS to the Original Song and I can only offer a site with a snippet of it down in the bottom section here...BTW - this in no way rationalizes for or excuses the perpetrator's of these foul acts & deeds...we all have, or should have, the ability to think and reason and connect to humanity...and disdain and reject the putrid calls of blind hatred...from whatever their source...pulpit, prayer mosque or political pose...

Thanks, alvin. I had been thinking about trying to do some of Love's old songs from "Forever Changes" and some of their other ones for a while but they really are very tough to do because the OS lyrics are so strange, quirky and often oddly-paced to begin with, what with Lee's habit of holding back the last word of a line until the start of the NEXT line...hard to make that work parody-wise...But, since I enjoy revisiting the music I keep looking for possible ways/ideas to use them with...this one sort of popped into my head rather suddenly last night. The rambling, frantically-paced, off-kilter thinking of the OS sort of seemed like the way some nut-case potential suicide-bomber might be processing thoughts. Good thing Arthur Lee is non-violent, huh?
I was on holiday when it happened. It shocked me terribly. My family have speculated that the war in Iraq led indirectly to it. Recently the Labour MP Robin Cook died, and since I found out that he was opposed to the war in Iraq (he resigned from the cabinet), I have seen him less as the figure of fun the Dead Ringers cast made him out to be.
Yes, Cook certainly looks like he was more plugged into reality than a lot of other American and British political figures. It's speculation, yes, but there is a good chance the Iraq situation was in the mix of mix-up thinking involved. It's never a good idea to let loose the Dogs of War unless you know what the Hell you are doing...It doesn't appear that current American leadership were in that boat at the time...or that they really are now...guess I will leave it at that...Thanks
