Wow, it’s been, like, forever since I set foot on AmIRight! And it’s also the first time in a long time that I had written a parody! I must say I’m back, for now. This is also my first attempt to participate for The Ages of Amiright contest. I was going to use “Bend Me, Shape Me”, until I found out that the OS is from the late 60’s (1967, I think). This wasn’t my first choice, but since this decade involves 1960-1965 songs, this is the only 1965 song I could come up with. This one pertains to injuries in sports and exercise, so I decided to use both topics on this one.
Thought I was tough, but should have known
Had found out, (my) physique, outgrown
Bent out of shape, a weakling; true
I skinned my knees, now I had badly bruised…

I got sprained legs
Tried out in sports, won’t make the team
Before I’ve known, opponents had me creamed

I must say, this OS is a pretty easy write to spoof! Yes, this was my intention all along, to start off easy on a parody I haven't done in ages in writing.

I thought this was going to be about Nancy Kerrigan - which would have been good - but your self-deprecating humor (which I hope is not accurate) was probably better.
Great work, and good to see you back. Life has been good to me, but weird and somewhat painful too... saving a more in-depth comment and my vote for when Ages of AIR starts.
I honestly can't hear this song without thinking of Groundhog Day (the film with Bill Murray). This was a great parody and I could totally relate (this is one of the main reasons why I don't work out that much. It hurts like HECK!!!)
(Ages Round 1, 2011) Great work as usual, like how the typical CMM upbeat tone seen in much of her work improves the sappy tone of the OS, and it is all-around good work. 5s.

Not particularly thrilled that I had to listen to the OS haha, but your lyrics went great with it and I love the title switch! Nice work!
Thanks, Abbott!! :)...I can understand. Yeah, not everybody is a fan of the OS and there are people I knew of who can't stomach the song. To be honest, that wasn't my fave choice, but that's the only song from the decade I can come up with to write about athletics and sports. Nevertheless, I'm glad you took the time to read and enjoy my parody.
Oh I know all to well of bruises as an athlete. Whew, boy do I know! That definitly gave this one a big boost with me. I loved it!
(Ages3) I wish my legs were only bruised...stupid Guillain–Barré syndrome...anyway, despite the awful OS (IMO, of course), this parody was pretty good. 5's for you!
