Can you imagine being elected your country's leader, then being tossed out in a landslide, and being so hated you actually have to leave the country? In America, during the Depression, a car with horses tied to it, since the owner could no longer afford gasoline, was called a Hoover wagon. In Canada, it was called a Bennett buggy. The Depression made Richard Bedford Bennett Prime Minister in 1930, and it made him an ex-PM in 1935. He was called to Britain, was titled (1st Viscount Bennett of Mickleham, Calgary and Hopewell), and is the only deceased Canadian leader buried on foreign soil.

In the Prime Ministerial Parody Project, Bennett was, by far, the hardest to find a "base song" for, since "Bennett" proved to be hard to rhyme. But finally I heard the song "Green Onions," and started thinking about great rock instrumentals, and "Harlem Nocturne" came to mind. It's by a group called the Viscounts. That made me think of Bennett, and, Hey, what rhymes with "Viscount"? "I Count the Tears" was the last Drifters song with Ben E. King on the lead.
