’shroomin’ in the deep, dark forest gloom;
seekin’ out some nontoxic mushrooms.

I’m with a group, and we’re working togther;
there should be plenty because of damp weather.
Can’t wait to taste our found bounty after we’re
movin’ far from crowds and avenues.
Droopin’ are the ferns drenched in wet dew.

Though none of us has studied forestry,
enthusiastic, we forage freely.
I’m sure that soon we’ll find some bulbous treats from
’shroomin’ where there is plenty of room,
seekin’ a mycological bloom.
Slow they don’t grow.

We’re lucky ’cause it’s not a sunny day;
they grow best in humid humus decay.
I look down and my eyes spy a buffet
growin’ right next to me, poppin’ up perfectly.

Movin’ bounty to my food-prep room.
Eatin’, then hallucinations zoom.
