You're absolutely right.. at least in the first two cases: I'm not particularly into this pop culture malarkey, and threw out a general "who's from Liverpool?" question and picked the two that scanned best (just realized I was thinking of Cilla Black, rather than Lulu.. I'll have to resubmit this, methinks). No idea who Kerry Katona is, either. As for your last point: you wouldn't be a whining Scouser yourself, would you?
You're not the only one, Phil. When Peter Reid, who really does have a head like an ape's, was managing Sunderland, a.k.a. the Mackems, Newcastle fans, sang, to "Daydream Believer," "Cheer up Peter Reid, you got a monkey's heed, you're a Sad Mackem B@st@rd with a sh!t football team!" Except Reid isn't a Mackem, he's a Scouser! But then, I'm an Arsenal fan, so I have slightly more tolerance for people from Liverpool who aren't Beatles.
