Well Stuart: great OS, very funny job, and I loved your echoing of 'just cause' with the alternate meaning...
But I'm afraid I must dock you on pacing, since the '(...or women)' throws everything off completely. If it was meant purely as an editorial commentary, and not really meant to be sung, you should have used brackets, thusly: [(...or women)]. Or perhaps '[editor's note: ...or women]'. Or perhaps an endnote. Any of these options would have been acceptable, but as it was, I repeatedly tried to sing that line with the parenthetical notation included, and was unable to make it work, which completely sabotaged what otherwise might have been a very pleasant parody-reading experience.

I can't BELIEVE you didn't apostrophise AINT.....fool. And in line seven..DIDN"T (with a quotation mark instead of an apostrophe), what's that about? And everyone KNOWS that the OS was originally recorded in April 1942 by the Bulgarian vocal quartet, The Hoogivzafok Brothers. Honestly, Stuart....I'm very disappointed. ;-) 555

Funniest one I've read so far tonight. Lotsa people seams to have beat me to the idea of suggesting you should deliberately have put it under the wrong decade though.
I must admit this is pretty funny stuff Stuart. Certainly more creative then what The Village People ever did. Construction workers, Cops, and Indians oh my! Fives to you despite placing that image in my mind.

I remember when the Decade Police themselves would make comments (under that name of course) back in September 2003. They seem to have disappeared after Chucky removed the designations at the very top of each parody, but they may not really be gone. How do we know that they're not lurking under different names?

(ABC3D) I remember reading this when it was posted, though I see I didn't comment. I've had one parody questioned by the DP ("Don;t Sing It!"), but I wound up being right (ha!). I notice Scathe puts everything in "misc", probably to avoid any DP (which, in another context, sounds quite painful). Oh, back to this, I unfortunately remember TOS enough to know the pacing is great, and 'tis funny, so 555. IMHO, you should have put this in the 60s and misspelled the artist name to something like "Villige Peepul". ;-)

Wow, great satire! And correct about the date of the original, it was in the early 60's. Really, I don't see what the big deal is about the decade, to me the title and singer are more important. If a hit song was released in '79, most likely it was still popular in 1980. Next thing you know there will be quibblers who say, "But wait! The '80s began in 1981." -- MM

Actually, there have been comments psoted by a guy claiming to be "The Parody Police" or "The Decade Police", but I suspect that they may be impostors.

The right decades do matter. If being correct means anal retentive, guilty as charged. Fans are smarter than you think & if you cannot bear to be called on it, tough.
