Hastert's controversial statement aside, New Orleans is going to be very difficult and expensive to rebuild, and many of the survivors may ultimately decide to stay in the places to which they've fled. What, then, are we to do with New Orleans? I've discovered by looking up "New Orleans" and "Venice" together on the search engines that I'm not even the first one to get this idea, though I did think of it all by myself. Put simply, permanently flooded Venice is a popular tourist attraction in Italy, so why don't we get our glorious nation a permanently flooded tourist attraction of its own?
