The Lyrics
Stain on ceiling is an in-joke amongst chemists and chemical engineers. It denotes a synthesis gone horribly wrong, where either the stuff boiling in the laboratory equipment - or the equipment itself - blows up and leaves a nasty stain on ceiling. I managed to blow up a Grignard reaction synthesis during my student years in HUT.
First I had flask
on a slow glowing heat
With magnesium chips
and organic bromide -
All alone, I had toiled
and that concoction boiled -
In a flask made of glass
in ether sauce -
Well, I hear the bubbling
colour changed - smelling foul
pressure high, it's reaction gone wild!
(BOOM!)
Stain on ceiling!
Seeing's believing!
I have blown it up -
Now I'm running for my life!
It's explosion!
And I made it happen!
Wow, I'm still alive
I did something wrong, quite lost my life -
Now I clean all that stuff
shards of glass, icky mass
In a flash, it all went somehow wrong -

NP Susanna, that's what AiR is for. Many parodists all using original songs that often overlap for different ideas. Yours has a nice balance of humor and education- 555!
Ditto Rob---who can forget those high school demonstrations of dropping water on burning magnesium chips? Great pacing and verbal echoing of the OS!
My only question is who here will do the motel version next???
Are strong oxidizers and finely divided metal powders readily available in Finland? I remember a chemical mishap in college that could have gone really bad. That's why I took up languages on not the hot, bubbly stuff in the beakers with the steam and the smoke and the kaboooom!

Patrick: No, fortunately. They are laboratory stuff, and I was young and inexperienced (this happened on my sophomore year organic lab course). With some hindsight I just wonder why not anything worse did happen there. Glass shrapnel flying around after a synthesis gone horribly wrong is dangerous.
Grignard reaction is an extremely dangerous reaction as it is exothermic, done in ether solution, under heat and in nitrogen atmosphere as the reagents are sensitive to oxygen and water. Up to this date I do not know what went wrong as my next try succeeded well.

A lot of terror bombers choose to work with something called "Mother of Satan" because the ingredients are inexpensive and not highly regulated. The combination is also so unstable that a lot of users "hoist themselves by their own petard" to use a Shakespearean expression.
The Paris bombers used tricky triacetone triperoxide, peroxyacetone, TATP.
