I like this tune but as I was listening to it, yet another pestilential Nancy Pelosi article appeared on my feed. Once I focused on the lyrics to this song, the parody was easy enough to write. My apologies to The Seekers.
I arose from need of leadership
of societies of yore
I was King and Lord and Caliph
and of power I wanted more
I am from the second MLM
after religion!
I learned to work at nothing; the first Politician!
I laughed up my sleeve at you

I never cared about you

I like the original song. Just heard it for the first time this year. You explain this sordid species as well as anyone has. I have a friend in Brazil who posts a lot of stuff about the politics in his country. Same as our country. Bolsonaro is facing the same challenges as Trump. And his predecessors should be in jail, but they won't go because the system protects them. TMC, you've got the start of some good parodies. I sometimes shop at Target. One thing you can't buy there: targets.
Now that my cover is blown, I can testify that the Georgetown Girl is Sandra Fluke, and there is a full parody -- Hey there, Georgetown Town ......Easiest if you use "The Seekers" link at top of page. BTW, Georgie Girl is a great OS to parody -- classically cheesy.
Just before I graduated from the eighth grade in my Catholic School, a parish priest called all the boys to the church building and, among other things, played "Georgie Girl" on a record player. Can't really remember why. Not sure if that constitutes "child abuse", but we seemed to have survived the experience.
