            The Lyrics

[Alto] And the Story, the story of the food
[STB] And the Story [SATB] the Story of the Food
[Tenor] shall be revealed,
[Bass] like onions when they’re peeled,
[Soprano] no longer concealed.
[Tenor] And the Story, the story of the food
[Bass] shall be revealed.
[Soprano & Alto] One night we had an idea to
[Alto & Tenor] invite some friends to come over for dinner
[Soprano] this Saturday at six,
[SATB] now the Story, the story of the food shall be revealed.
[Alto] We must start with a good appetizer.
[Tenor] Why not oysters or better yet, shrimp cocktail?
[Tenor & Bass] ‘Cause my mouth swells up I’m allergic to it.
[Soprano & Alto] And all flesh shall be fish or poultry.
[Soprano] No red meat will I eat I must decline.
[Alto] And all flesh
[Tenor] must be cooked till it’s very well done.
[Alto] But you cook it till it’s black as charcoal.
[Soprano & Alto] You burn everything it’s dry as old shoe leather.
[Tenor & Bass] Certain foods make you sick when eaten raw.
[SATB] There’s no danger of that happening!
[Alto & Tenor] I have diabetes
[SATB] and I must cut out all sugar.
[Soprano] I can’t have dessert, no pumpkin pie.
[Alto] And our dinner plans falling apart! Shall we serve roasted peanuts?
[Tenor] No because [Bass] I’m allergic.
[Alto] Well, then how about [ATB] some chipotle chicken?
[Soprano] I won’t eat food when it’s too spicy, no!
[Tenor] Hot, it’s much too hot, it’s much too hot!
[Soprano & Bass] Let’s have pineapple rum cake.
[Alto] He won’t eat pineapple rum cake.
[Tenor] That has alcohol [Bass] and I’m in a [ATB] recovery program.
[Soprano] Here’s the moral of the Story, the story of the food!
[ATB] We will have to find some compromise.
[Soprano] It’s hard to find some food we can agree on.
[Alto] We could have broccoli if you don’t overcook it.
[Bass] Perhaps some broccoli, it hasn’t any shellfish.
[Tenor] I’d like some broccoli if you don’t soak it in alcohol.
[Soprano] And don’t use any [SAT] spices it has natural good flavor.
[Bass] Because my mouth swells up I’m allergic to it.
[SATB] And no sugar because I have
i>[Soprano & Alto] diabetes. [Tenor & Bass] Broccoli.
[Soprano & Alto] Raw broccoli, I --
[Tenor & Bass] With no spices or alcohol or red meat or sugar I --
[SATB] have eaten it!
