The Lyrics
The Forest Brethren (Estonian: Metsavennad were a patriotic, anti-Soviet guerrillas and partisans who fought against the Soviet occupators after the WWII when USSR had conquered the Baltic countries (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania). They made the life difficult for the Communists, and while their fight more or less dried up after the death of Stalin 1953, they were never really crushed until 1979, when the last Estonian Forest Brother was killed in action. Estonian folk punk band "Untsakad" (literally "Grateful Dead") has recorded several of the old songs of the era. Since Estonian and Finnish are close enough to be mutually intelligible, I took the liberty to translate the song into English. The original song, which is brisk and ironic, can be found here.
The last known Forest Brother was Latvian Jānis Pīnups, who came out of hiding only in 1995, having fought guerrilla war against the Communists for fifty years.

555 Susanna... I knew immediately what you were talking about. By comparison the German Werwolfen ultimately failed by 1947 due to overwhelming occupation by forces both east and west. The Soviets had less incidents because they immediately formed citizen patrol forces armed with German weapons. German guerillas in the east were rare. The infamous DB anti-partisan murderers simply vanished into E Europe and Scandinavia because they were not uniformed and were only loosely attached to SS units. They went back to poaching and other crimes!
I pulled up the youtube video on one screen and your lyrics on another so I could sing along (in my head, this being a public library, and my singing voice not well thought of in any venue). Didn't know the anti-Soviet resistance held out for so long. 1979 would have been five years after the last Japanese soldier surrendered in the Philippines. A very jolly melody. Wiping out enemies of freedom should be fun.
Just for the record, the Germans used these people to fight the Red Army and then disbanded and disarmed the bulk of them in Estonia, raising the Nazi flag. They were policed by the SS and some transferred to Finnish combat units or Waffen SS.
