Possible Misspelled Names:

These are the alternate spellings of the performer's name we've had to correct in submissions to amIright.

Hermens Hermits

Band Name Origins:

  • Peter Noone (lead singer) put on a pair of eyeglasses upside-down and they said he looked like Sherman from The Bullwinkle Show, but Peter thought he said Herman (instead of Sherman), so they started calling him Herman. As for the name "Hermits", Peter has avoided telling "why Hermits" and has given many funny stories. But the most prominent story was one where the band was waiting backstage and someone said they "looked like a bunch of bloody hermits", likely battered and beat from travelling. They were first known as the Heartbeats for some time, then changed their name to Herman And The Hermits, then shortened to Herman's Hermits. Submitted by: Tig
  • Someone in the record business noticed that singer Peter Noone bore a great resemblance to "Sherman", of the American TV cartoon duo "Sherman and Peabody." (Yeah, I know; Why not Sherman's Shermits? Submitted by: Khalil

"No Milk Today"
Better Lyrics:
No milk today, the farmer's gone away
He shot of all his cows 'cos milk's price is crashing down
No milk today, the farmer's gone away
But if you'd like some beef, it's going very cheap
Original Lyrics:
No milk today, my love has gone away
The bottle stands forlorn, a symbol of the dawn
No milk today, it seems a common sight
But people passing by don't know the reason why

Funniest Song Lyrics:

"No Milk Today"
The Funny Lyrics:
The company was gay
Why They're Funny:
Maybe in the sixties they're saying everyone was having a good time, but nowadays, all that lyric means is everyone was men doing dirty things with each other!

Repetitive Song Lyrics:

"I'm Henry VIII, I Am"
The Repetitive Lyrics:
I'm 'Enery the eighth, I am
'Enery the eighth I am
I am I got married to the widow next door
She's been married seven times before
And every one was an 'Enery
She wouldn't have a Willy or a Sam
I'm her eighth old man, I'm 'Enery
'Enery the eighth, I am
Why They're Repetitive:
Why does it repeat? Peter Noone (lead singer) forgotten the original lyrics when reaching the end of the above lyrics, so he spontaniously said 'Second verse, same as the first!' and repeated it again ..At least, that's what Peter said.

Nonsensical Song Lyrics:

"A Must To Avoid"
The Nonsensical Lyrics:
She's a must to avoid,
A complete impossibility.
Why They're Nonsensical:
If she's a complete impossibility, she can't really exist, can she? And if she doesn't exist, avoiding her can't be an issue, can it?

Misrhymed Song Lyrics:

"No Milk Today"
The Misrhymed Lyrics:
As music played the faster did we dance
We felt it both at once
The start of our romance
Why They're Misrhymed:
I love this song, but the singer really forces this line. I mean c'mon, once does not rhyme with romance! You could say that it was supposed to rhyme with dance, but the rhythm certainly doesn't allow it. It sounds really wierd when you hear him sing this.
Submitted by: Anaïs
"Can't You Hear My Heartbeat"
The Misrhymed Lyrics:
When I feel you put your arms around me
Then I'm glad, I'm mighty glad I found you
Why They're Misrhymed:
It takes a brazen lyricist to try to rhyme 'me' and 'you'!
